Basketball Preview: Bama vs. LSU

This game touts two very highly regarded preseason teams who have struggled mightily throughout their conference schedules. Both teams are in dyer need of a victory for not just NCAA Tournament hopes, but also for their NIT resumes.

The team who wins the battle in the paint, will be the team who walks out of the Maravich Assembly Center with a victory. Jemareo Davidson and Richard Hendrix will definitely have their hands full with "Big Baby" Glen Davis. It is almost unbelievable to watch as a man of his size is able the move around like a ballerina in the paint.

Both teams have struggled from the perimeter this year, both defensively and offensively. The perimeter defense of the Tide has been a sore spot this year and will likely not improve much until Ron Steele gets healthy enough for Coach Mark Gottfried to be able to trust him playing man to man.

LSU will be very hungry for a win and will be playing in front of the rowdy Cajun fans. It is very hard to believe the Tide can leave with a victory tonight after they have lost their first three SEC road games by over 20 points, but I think they will. They will have to play defense from the tip and maintain good movement on the offensive end.

Gottfried needs this one!
